02 Jan Change Leadership: Why People Resist Change – Leadership Development Tips
Change leadership starts with every single individual. If given the choice of CHANGE or DIE, what percentage of people do you think would choose to CHANGE their behaviour?…
90%
80%
50%
30%
It’s actually only 15%!
In this video, I share a story with you about Dean Ornish who set out to change these statistics and what he learned about WHY people RESIST CHANGE.
The 3 things Dean Ornish discovered about change leadership:
1) Fear is not a good motivator. If you want to get people to change you have to focus on the benefits (not the fears) and lead on purpose.
2) Shame doesn’t work. When you’re trying to make a change you can’t SHAME people.
3) People have to CHOOSE to change. You can’t force them into the change.
We’d like to hear from you, in the comments below, tell us how will you apply Dean Ornish’s research to your own leadership?
Keep on leading in work and life.
